What is it about orchids that people find exotic and mysterious? Maybe it’s because it’s the world’s most advance plant, and there are more species of orchids (between 20,000 and 30,000) than any other plant on earth. Or simply because the’re fascinating plants with beautiful and intricate flowers. San Miguel has a wonderful history as a center or orchid cultivation: Stirling Dickinson brought in hundreds of varieties of Mexican ones when he established the Jardin de Orquideas at Los Pocitos on Santo Domingo Street. If you are looking for some answers as to why orchids are so intriguing, and why there are more groups dedicated to growing them than any other plant variety, you definitely need to come to San Miguel’s Orchid Market . The market will have various vendors from Mexico City, Queretaro among other important cities in Mexico. Workshops and discussions will be available for a modest fee.
